About: Pigeon Passage was created as part of a volunteer project with the University of Toronto for the Royal Ontario Museum's biodiversity exhibit. With a target audience of young children, my partner and I decided to make the gameplay similar to that of a simple pre-existing game: Flappy Bird. I chose a bright, 8-bit art style to make the game more appealing to kids. In order to bring an educational aspect to the game, we added multiple levels that have to do with the passenger pigeon's extinction.
The ROM invited us to demo Pigeon Passage on three separate occasions, where we received feedback from children and parents. Our original game ended up being too easy for the kids, so we upped the difficulty on later levels.
